Introduction to the FUKS Program

Dangerous incidents happen to all of us. Also at work, they cannot be completely avoided, fortunately, not all of them end in injury. Such incidents are worth analyzing and taking measures to eliminate them. In our company, a program for reporting so-called „near misses” was established as early as 2014. potentially accidental events. We wanted it to be part of the culture of our organization, so we gave it a special name: FUKS, or Fun to Avoid Every Harm. This is a program that involves all employees in efforts to improve safety. In a specially created application, we can report risks and propose actions to eliminate risks.

Pyramid Safety – Scientific Evidence

Scientists have been studying accidents at work for years. Among the researchers were. Herbert Heinrich, who worked on analyzing the causes and consequences of accidents. The result of his research was the creation of the Safety Pyramid, a concept that was developed in 1931.

The pyramid shows that for every fatal/serious accident, there are several times as many light accidents, for which there are several hundred near misses. In a nutshell, this means that by eliminating unsafe events that did not lead to injury, you can make a real difference in reducing accidents. That’s why it’s so important in our company to build a strong foundation and commitment from all employees to eliminate unsafe behavior and surroundings through FUKS reporting.
In 2023. our employees have submitted as many as 328 FUKS!

The Role of the Health and Safety Promoter

We believe that everyone should be able to create safe and friendly working conditions. We wanted to make this process easier for employees, so when creating the program we created the function of Health and Safety Promoter. It was a very good step – Promoters are a huge support in building a positive safety culture. A Health and Safety Promoter is a volunteer who promotes safe behavior, encourages reporting of FUKS, and is committed to creating a friendly workplace. We currently have more than 30 Health and Safety Promoters from various departments and job groups.
