Work progressing as planned
Work at the construction site of the new US Pharmacia plant on Bierutowska Street is moving forward all the time. In the coming weeks, we will begin installing new equipment and production lines, as well as arranging laboratory and office space. As we stressed earlier, the new plant is a step for us to make even better use of the potential of our teams, resources and processes.
Technology to support every stage of production
When designing the factory, we wanted advanced systems to support every stage of production – from the preparation of raw materials to the packaging of the finished product. Planned investments include autonomous AGV forklifts, which will increase safety and improve internal logistics, as well as automated packing systems for unit cartons and modern weighing stations – automatic or semi-automatic. We also plan to implement a LIMS system for laboratory data management, and are considering implementing an MES system with electronic batch reporting. Thanks to these technologies, the new factory will operate faster, more efficiently and with attention to quality at every stage of the process.
New factory vs. 3000+100 strategy
Our investment is directly linked to the implementation of the 3000+100 internal strategic project, the main goal of which is to reach the level of 3 billion tablets, sachets and capsules produced and packaged annually by 2030 (the “3000” part). In practice, this means that thanks to modern technologies, we will increase production capacity, introduce new drugs and dietary supplements to the portfolio, and start local production of products previously supplied by external partners. As part of the implementation of this part of the project, we have already started in Wroclaw production of the dietary supplement Hepatil.
Next steps and initiatives
In addition, over the next five years, we plan to implement a number of improvements in various areas of operations-from production to logistics to labor organization. One of the elements that will contribute to improved efficiency will be a fuller utilization of the capabilities of the new factory and-including, the aforementioned, in-house production of products previously carried out externally. Additional measures include a change in the purchase policy for laboratory reagents, the use of recycled cardboard in our displays, shortening the production process for selected products, and other optimization initiatives. The goal of these activities is to generate funds at the level of PLN 100 million, which will be used to support further investments in USP (part “100”).
As you can see, at every stage of our business, we are looking for solutions that will allow us to develop in a modern and responsible way.
